You haven’t lived if you haven’t tried this dessert. Trust me. (And trust my Mom, who made us cook it for her three nights in a row while she visited us!)

Recipe
- 4 regular bananas (or 8 apple bananas)
- 3 tbsp of butter
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 2 oz. of amber or dark rum
- Ice cream
- Over medium heat in a large saucepan, melt butter and add brown sugar. Bring to a boil. Add sliced bananas and cook until soft (approximately 5 minutes). Remove from heat.
- Pour rum over the contents and ignite. Shake pan to ensure all alcohol burns off.
- Serve over ice cream (makes four portions).
- Call or email to thank me when you’re done.
I just drooled. <3

I can’t believe I lived 30ish years of my life not knowing about this. Ridiculous.
Sounds dangerous. And yummy too. Anything with ice cream is good.
A little off topic, but we just had the best ice cream ever from… ‘Cafe and Crepes’? Did you guys go there when you were in Colombia?

It is pretty damn good! We actually haven’t made it in a couple of weeks, which is why I licked the screen today… 🙂
Normally I’m more into the chocolate desserts, but this sounds delicious. I’m gonna have to give it a try.
Do! It is heavenly!
Also delicious with Tequila. My favorite desert.

Excellent tip, and will try it. We have some tequila kicking around here somewhere. Cheers!
That looks delicious. Any idea if you can use frozen bananas? I had some that were looking overripe, so I threw them in the freezer. I don’t have any desire for banana bread right now, but would like to use them.

Never tried it, but I’m not sure if it would work. The bananas soften up quite a bit in this, so if they are already quite soft, it might become quite a mess. Let me know how it works out if you try it!
I just made some using Jamaican Rum very liberally with some slightly over ripe bananas, I am going to attempt to freeze them, I will let everyone know how it turns out
