In just a few short hours, we will be saying goodbye to Roatán, Honduras, and Latin America.
As we’ve been in Roatán for nearly six months, it’s the longest we’ve stayed in one spot since we left home. This beautiful Caribbean island has provided us with a whirlwind of different experiences: we launched and grew this website, enjoyed volunteering with the wonderful kids of this island, got back on the mound, had a “go” with the local police, and finally, became Godparents to a beautiful Honduran baby.
This island threw us a good number of challenges as well, but we were always rewarded with stunning sunsets at the end of each day to remind us of how privileged we are to have experienced living in paradise.
However, it’s time to move on.
So where to next??
I can see how you got “stuck” in the Caribbean – every time I go there with my cruise ship I’m tempted to jump ship haha.

Two weeks back in Canada, and then off to Irealnd!
6 months in the Caribbean was too long. But, at least we know now, living there is not our thing. Too hot. 🙂
Honduras no doubt a most wondrous ride, but can’t wait to see what adventures you find in the Land of Shamrocks!
I can’t wait either!! Though, I am excited for these two weeks at home too. Feels pretty good right now. 🙂
It must be hard to say goodbye to a place you’ve had so many amazing experience. Onwards and upwards, though! Looking forward to hearing what happens next 🙂

Thanks Megan! It was hard, but we were still happy to be moving on. Looking forward to what Ireland and the rest of Europe has in store for us!
Good luck with the trip home! Looking forward to seeing what the next move will be.
Thanks Steph! It’s only a short rest at home – we’re off to Ireland in a couple of weeks!
No matter how much we love a place / experience, I am always excited to get home.

Us too! Especially this time, we’re really stoked to be here! 🙂
So how “weird” was it to leave Roatan, knowing after 6 months that it will probably be a long time before you head back?
It was weird, but we were still glad to do it. 6 months is too long to be in one place, for us. We were ready to go, as hard as it was to say goodbye to some people.
I’m sure it’s sad to leave. Great colors in the that shot though!
It was happy/sad. Sad to leave behind some great friends, yes, but it was just “time”!
Just stumbled across your blog – love it! It must have been quite the experience to be living in Roatan!
Welcome back to Canada – and safe flights to Ireland! 🙂
Thanks Savannah and welcome to the site!
